I Met a Fortuneteller After My Wife’s Funeral — the Next Day, Her Prediction Came True

After losing my wife Elizabeth in a tragic car crash, I was drowning in grief. Our daughters, Sophie and Emma, were too young to understand why Mommy wasn’t coming home, and I could barely function. At her funeral, I was approached by an old woman claiming to know my fate. I tried to ignore her—until she said, “Elizabeth won’t rest until justice is served.” Her words chilled me. I gave her twenty dollars, and she warned me: my wife’s death was no accident.

That night, I found strange receipts for a rental car among Elizabeth’s things—odd, since we owned two cars. The next day, her friend Sarah revealed that both cars had been in the shop, and Elizabeth had rented one as a surprise beach trip for the girls. But the rental was returned by her sister, Karen. When I confronted the rental company, the limited mileage and unexplained return raised red flags. I took everything to the police.

Their investigation confirmed what I feared: the car’s brakes had been tampered with. Worse, Karen had forged Elizabeth’s signature on a life insurance policy, naming herself the sole beneficiary. Consumed by debt, she planned her sister’s murder for money. Karen confessed and was sentenced to life in prison. Justice was finally served, though it didn’t dull the pain of losing Elizabeth.

I visited her grave weeks later, whispering, “You can rest now.” A butterfly landed on her headstone. I took it as a sign—she was finally at peace. The fortune-teller vanished, but her words led me to the truth. That $20, strange as it seemed, gave Elizabeth the justice she deserved—and gave me a reason to breathe again.
