New Suspect Who Allegedly Shot Charlie Kirk Identified & Is In Custody – Details

A major development has unfolded in the case of Charlie Kirk’s assassination. Authorities announced that a suspect has been arrested, shaking the community in Utah where the 31-year-old political activist was killed.

The suspect has been identified as 22-year-old Tyler Robinson, a Utah State University scholarship student. Police sources confirmed he was taken into custody in connection with the murder, which occurred during a rally at Utah Valley University on September 10, 2025. Reports suggest that Tyler confessed his actions to his father, Matt Robinson, before being apprehended.

Matt Robinson, a long-serving member of the Washington County Sheriff’s Department and the U.S. Marshals Service, secured his son and alerted law enforcement. Tyler’s arrest quickly escalated into national attention, with former President Donald Trump declaring that he hoped the suspect would face the death penalty if found guilty. During a press conference held shortly after the arrest, authorities confirmed that capital punishment would be sought in the case.

Trump stated that investigators tracked down the suspect with the help of Tyler’s father, explaining, “We have the person that we think is the person we’re looking for, but they drove into the police headquarters, and he’s there now.” Tyler’s mugshots were soon released publicly.

Tyler’s mother, Amber Robinson, is employed with Intermountain Support Coordination Services, an organization that helps people with disabilities access care. The family lives in a six-bedroom home in Washington, Utah, roughly 260 miles south of Orem, where Charlie Kirk was killed. Tyler is also the eldest of three brothers.

Law enforcement revealed that Tyler was taken into custody at approximately 11 p.m. on September 11 in southern Utah. By the following morning, Governor Spencer Cox and FBI Director Kash Patel addressed the public. Cox confirmed that the suspect was wearing clothing consistent with surveillance images taken the night of the shooting. He added that a family member had described how Tyler had become more politically engaged in recent years.

According to investigators, during a family dinner shortly before the shooting, Tyler reportedly mentioned that Charlie Kirk would be speaking at Utah Valley University, a remark that now carries chilling weight.

In his remarks, FBI Director Kash Patel thanked the president, the federal government, and the public for their support. He praised law enforcement’s rapid work, stating, “In 33 hours, we have made historic progress for Charlie. The arrest is a testament to good law enforcement being great.” Patel revealed that over 11,000 tips had been submitted and that every lead was being pursued.

Despite the swift arrest, a motive for the assassination has not been confirmed. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue piecing together the events leading up to Charlie Kirk’s killing. For now, Tyler Robinson remains in custody as the legal process advances.
