One rainy evening, an elderly woman named Linda Meyers got drenched in a sudden downpour. Without an umbrella, her clothes and hair were soaked. She went to a famous café to find shelter but was stopped by the porter, who said the café was exclusive and required a reservation. When Linda asked to speak to the manager, Simon, he also refused her entry, saying she would scare away customers because of her appearance.

Linda explained she just wanted to wait out the rain and promised to order something, but Simon was firm and told her to leave.

Feeling hurt, she left to find another place. The next day, the café owner told Simon that important guests, potential buyers of the café, were coming. Simon prepared everything carefully.

That evening, the owner introduced Simon to the guests — Linda and her husband. Simon was shocked to see Linda there. She smiled kindly and said she and her husband were happy to buy the café.

After becoming the new owners, Linda and her husband observed the café’s daily work. Linda decided to demote Simon to a waiter because of how he treated her the night before. Simon was humiliated but accepted the new role.

A few days later, a poor woman came in and ordered food but realized she had no money to pay. Simon kindly paid for her meal, saying everyone deserves help. The woman said Simon would become manager again, which surprised him.

Linda then revealed she had sent the woman to test Simon. Happy with his kindness and changed attitude, Linda promoted Simon back to manager.

From that day on, Simon worked happily and treated everyone with respect. The café grew even more successful.

What we learn:

  • Don’t judge people by their appearance.

  • Everyone deserves a second chance.

  • Kindness and understanding can transform lives.
