Transform an old umbrella and concrete into a beautiful garden decoration

If you have an old umbrella lying around and you’re thinking of throwing it away, wait a minute! 😏👌 With a little creativity, it can be transformed into a beautiful garden decoration, adding a personal touch to your outdoor space! 🏡🏞️

This creative DIY project will brighten up your garden! 🤩👐 Here’s how to do it step by step! 👇

With a bit of time and ingenuity, simple items can become unique pieces for your garden.

Start by choosing a suitable spot in your garden, ideally on flat ground, to ensure the structure’s stability.

Compact some wet sand to form a solid base. Then, take the umbrella without the handle and place it upside down; this will be the foundation of your project.

How to turn an umbrella into a garden decoration

Mix cement and water to achieve a fluid consistency. Don’t add sand at this stage! Pour the mixture over the umbrella’s canopy, spreading it evenly, and let it harden.

Once the base is sufficiently solid, drill a hole in the center of the umbrella and insert a PVC pipe for additional support.

Add a metal mesh over the umbrella to reinforce the structure and prevent cracking.

Create a solid and durable garden decoration

Prepare a thicker mixture of cement and sand (1:2 ratio) and spread it over the metal mesh. Smooth out the surface and let it dry for 24 hours.

While the umbrella base dries, prepare the foundation: place the PVC pipe in a pre-greased plastic bowl and fill it with the same cement and sand mixture. To increase strength, you can add broken bricks or pieces of metal.

Assemble the garden decoration structure

Once both parts are completely dry, carefully remove them from the molds. Use mortar to attach the umbrella to the base and let it fully harden.

Now it’s time to customize your creation! Apply a primer, then paint it in the color of your choice so that it fits perfectly with your garden. Once the paint is dry, apply a protective varnish to ensure greater longevity.

The final result

The finished product can serve as a unique flower pot: fill it with soil and plant your favorite flowers. You’ll now have a handmade, one-of-a-kind garden decoration that will beautify your outdoor space! 🌸✨
