Sisters were born with fused heads and survived – here’s what they look like 18 years later

These conjoined twin sisters recently turned 18 😲 They were born with fused heads and partially joined brains 😱 Thanks to that, they can feel, hear, see, and even think for one another. 😲 If one is tickled, the other laughs. If one drinks juice, the other tastes it. 🤔

How the sisters look today was shown in the first comment 👇👇

When Tatiana and Krista Hogan were born in 2006 in Vancouver, Canada, doctors weren’t sure if the girls would survive even a few days.

They were born with an extremely rare condition — joined at the head with partially connected brains. The medical term is craniopagus, and it occurs in fewer than 1 in 2.5 million births.

But their case was even more unique: they share a thalamus — a deep part of the brain responsible for sensory information.

Today, Tatiana and Krista are 18 years old. They live in a small house in Vernon, in the Canadian province of British Columbia, with their mother, grandmother, and several siblings.

It’s a loving and ordinary family, though under extraordinary circumstances.

The Hogan sisters are not just twins. They are two individuals with an incredible neural connection. Thanks to their shared thalamus, they can feel, hear, see, and even think for one another.

If one is tickled, the other laughs. If one drinks juice, the other tastes it. The most astonishing part — they can “read each other’s minds,” as if one consciousness lives in two bodies.

Scientists remain amazed by this phenomenon. Studying their brain has opened new doors to understanding how human consciousness works.

Living with limitations

Despite their remarkable abilities, Tatiana and Krista face serious health challenges:

Both have weak hearts — especially Tatiana, which poses a life-threatening risk. Krista has seizures and epilepsy, so the family must constantly monitor her condition.

Movement is difficult — they use a special wheelchair because coordinating two bodies takes great effort.

They also have developmental delays and follow a special education program.

Despite the challenges, the sisters are cheerful, talkative, and full of life. They love cartoons, video games, music, and social interaction. They each have their own tastes, personalities, and preferences.

Tatiana is more impulsive; Krista is calmer.

They love being together. At one point, separation was considered, but doctors immediately ruled it out — the surgery would have been fatal for both.
