the case has become a symbol of everything tearing Minneapolis apart.
Federal officials painted Raul Gutierrez as the embodiment of violent gang crime:
a convicted felon, tied to fentanyl and meth,
now accused of ripping a Colt M16A1 from a government SUV during civil unrest.
They framed his arrest as proof that, despite protests and political hostility,
federal law enforcement would not back down.
Local leaders, already reeling from the fatal ICE shooting
of Renée Good, pushed back against what they called fearmongering and failed policy.
As ICE raids intensified and demonstrations spread
from North Minneapolis streets to a St. Paul church altar,
