BREAKING: Deadly Knife Attack Rocks Taipei After Smoke Bombs Detonate at Train Station

Morning commuters in Taipei were thrown into chaos after a violent attack unfolded at the city’s main train station.

According to initial reports, a suspect triggered smoke bombs inside the station, sending crowds fleeing in panic. Moments later, a knife attack followed, leaving at least three people dead and five others injured.

Emergency sirens echoed through central Taipei as heavily armed police units rushed to the scene. Train services were halted, platforms evacuated, and nearby streets locked down while authorities worked to secure the area.

Eyewitnesses described thick smoke filling parts of the station, confusion among passengers, and people scrambling for exits as announcements blared overhead.

Police confirmed the suspect was quickly confronted and neutralized. Investigators are now working to determine whether the attack was planned and if the smoke devices were intended to maximize panic.

The Taipei main station is one of the busiest transportation hubs in Taiwan, handling hundreds of thousands of passengers daily — amplifying fears about public safety and security vulnerabilities.

Officials urged the public to avoid the area as forensic teams continued their work late into the day.

This is a developing story. Authorities say more details will be released as the investigation continues.
