On Date Night, Man Mocks Wife for Dirty Dishes, Ignores Her Gift, Then Opens It After Her Death — Story of the Day

On Valentine’s Day, Cora prepared a surprise for her husband, Eric—she baked his favorite dishes,

decorated the room, and even bought him a special gift.

After meeting at a conference,

Cora and Eric, both orphans, married quickly and had triplets. Eric worked tirelessly to support the family,

while Cora managed the home. Their life was simple, but full of love,

That evening, Eric came home to the romantic setup. Instead of appreciating it, he lashed out angrily,

accusing her of wasting money and neglecting household duties.

He even threw her gift on the floor.

Heartbroken, Cora left to buy diapers for the kids.

When she didn’t return after an hour,

Eric called her, but a police officer knocked on his door with devastating news:

Cora had died in a car accident. Eric was left in shock, filled with regret.

At the mortuary, he saw her lifeless body and remembered the Valentine’s

Day surprise she had prepared. He found the gift she had bought him: plane tickets

to Hawaii and a heartfelt note about her new job, her excitement for a vacation, and her plans for the family,

Overcome with guilt, Eric realized too late that he had hurt the woman he loved.

After her funeral, Eric withdrew from everything, focused only on raising their children.

Every Valentine’s Day, he visits Cora’s grave, wishing he could have asked for her forgiveness.
