Teen who allegedly stabbed Austin Metcalf claims self defense

A tragic incident at Kuykendall Stadium in Frisco, Texas

, left the community grieving after Austin Metcalf, a junior at Memorial High School,

was fatally stabbed during a confrontation with Karmelo Anthony,

a student from Centennial High School.

The altercation occurred on April 2, when Austin and his twin brother, Hunter,

were preparing for track events. Karmelo,

after being asked to move from their tent,

allegedly became aggressive and pulled a knife from his backpack, stabbing Austin in the chest.

Despite efforts to save him, Austin died in his brother’s arms.

Karmelo was arrested and charged with first-degree murder.

He confessed to the stabbing,

but his family claims he acted in self-defense.

They describe him as a good student and athlete,

and supporters have raised over $140,000 for his legal defense.

However, many question why Karmelo brought

a w* apon to the event and whether he could have,

reported his fears to a coach or school official instead of resorting to violence

.The incident has sparked public debate on youth violence and self-defense laws,

with some defending Karmelo and others condemning the act as unnecessary.
