Sarah Palin announced on October 22 that retired NHL star Ron Duguay had died at 69. “He fought so hard. Love never ends,” she wrote.
According to the Daily Mail, Duguay was diagnosed with Stage 4 colon cancer in December 2024, and the disease later spread to his liver.
His daughters helped arrange care near their California homes, while Palin remained closely involved.
Daughter Shay Thomas previously recalled Palin spending five days at the hospital during his surgery.

Duguay’s treatment included surgery, chemotherapy and a hepatic pump, with his family seeking financial help and prayers throughout his illness. Beyond those difficult months stood a distinguished hockey career: 12 NHL seasons, 536 points and an enduring connection with New York Rangers fans. He later became an MSG Network analyst. The Rangers honored his skill, tenacity and charisma, offering condolences to those now mourning both a celebrated player and someone deeply loved.
