A woman walks into a pharmacy

She walked into the pharmacy with a calm so chilling

it almost felt rehearsed, her voice steady as she asked for a poison that would leave no trace,

no questions, no suspicions—only a husband who “died of natural causes.”

The pharmacist recoiled, horrified, ready to call the police… until she quietly slid one devastating photograph across the counter

In that single, damning image, the world tilted.

The pharmacist saw his own wife,

unmistakable and bare, wrapped

around the very man this woman wanted dead.

The moral high ground he’d been

standing on just seconds before crumbled beneath him,

replaced by a hot rush of betrayal and humiliation.

The law, the rules, his training—suddenly

they all felt distant and abstract compared to the raw, personal sting of that photograph.

He looked up, and their eyes locked in a silent, terrible agreement.

She wasn’t just asking for a favor; she was offering him a way to balance a scale that had been shattered in an instant.

When he muttered,

“Oh, you should have told me you had a prescription,” the joke curdled in the air,

half confession, half surrender. In that moment, the poison became almost incidental.

What truly died there was the illusion that ethics stand untouched when the heart is broken.
