BREAKING: Washington’s infrastructure is beginning to
fail as repeated atmospheric
rivers push the system to its limits.
After initially holding
during the first wave of storms,
levees, dams, and transportation systems are now
under growing strain
as relentless rain and widespread flooding continue.
Several levees have failed, floodwaters have overtaken roads and communities,
and more than a dozen highways have been shut down as infrastructure struggles to keep up.
Officials warn the system is under extreme pressure,
with one saying there is “tremendous stress on that infrastructure.”
Please keep Washington, its neighborhoods
and first responders in your thoughts
as this flooding event continues
to unfold over the next 48 hours.
