The tragic news came after a visit from a longtime friend and podcast co-host, who was with him in his Texas home when he mentioned feeling unwell and decided to rest.

Shortly after, he returned to the room, struggling to breathe.

Emergency services were called, but despite efforts, he passed away before they could arrive.

Best known for his role as the first host of Wheel of Fortune, this figure made a lasting impact on the entertainment industry, not only as a game show host but also as a musician.

Born on March 16, 1941, in Ashland, Kentucky, he began his career in music before transitioning to television, where his charisma and sharp wit made him a household name.

His time hosting Wheel of Fortune in 1975 launched a long and successful career, followed by other hit shows like Love Connection (1983–1994),

where his humorous commentary became iconic, and Scrabble (1984–1990), based on the classic word game.

Known for his quick wit and engaging presence, he became a staple of the game show genre, beloved by fans for his approachable demeanor and entertaining style.

Woolery also enjoyed a successful music career, first as a member of The Avant-Garde, a pop trio that scored a hit with “Naturally Stoned” in 1968.

He later pursued a solo career in country music.

Though he left Wheel of Fortune in 1981 due to a salary dispute, his legacy in the entertainment world remained strong.

His contributions to television, particularly in the game show arena, will always be remembered.
