On April 10, 2025, a scenic helicopter tour turned fatal when a Bell 206 aircraft crashed into the

Hudson River shortly after a routine fuel request. All six people on board —

including Siemens executive Agustin Escobar,

his wife Merce Camprubi Montal, and their three young children — were killed.

The Spanish family had just taken off from Manhattan for a sightseeing tour. Minutes later,

the helicopter vanished from radar.

Witnesses saw it descending in a nose-down spiral,

possibly due to catastrophic rotor failure.The wreckage,

was found upside down in the river.

Weather conditions were challenging,

with gusty winds and overcast skies.

Experts suggest a mechanical malfunction,

possibly rotor blade separation, made the crash unavoidable.

Emergency services arrived quickly,

but it was too late. The FAA and NTSB are investigating.

The tragedy has sparked mourning in both New York and Spain,

especially within the global

transportation community where Escobar was a prominent figure.
