I Bought My Dream House — Then My Girlfriend Pulled a Shocking Move

I worked 14 years to buy my first home. Every sacrifice, sleepless night, and skipped meal was for this dream.

The day I finally held the keys, I felt unstoppable.

Wanting to celebrate,

I called my girlfriend of three months, Betty.

But the moment I walked in, everything froze.

She wasn’t alone.

Her mom, sister, and even a lawyer were waiting—with her suitcases by the door.

Betty smiled brightly and said, “Surprise! I want us to be on the deed together.”

Her mom added sharply, “If you love her, prove it.” My heart raced. We had never even discussed anything like this.

Hands trembling, I picked up the pen. I did love her, but was this really love—or pressure?

Just as I was about to sign, they all burst into laughter. “It’s a prank!” Betty shouted.

The documents were fake, hidden cameras rolled, and friends came out of the kitchen recording everything like it was a reality show.

Everyone else laughed, but my chest tightened.

What they saw as a harmless joke felt like a betrayal.

My dream home—something I had built with sweat and sacrifice—had just been used as a punchline. I forced a smile for the cameras, but deep down, something shifted.

A month later, I proposed to Betty—on my terms, not anyone else’s.

She said yes, and I truly wanted her in my life. But the house? That stayed in my name alone. Because some lessons only need to be learned once. And trust—once shaken—never feels quite the same.
