My Brother’s Fiancée Was My Childhood Bully

When my brother announced his engagement, I was shocked to learn he was marrying Nancy,

the girl who had tormented me throughout childhood.

She was always the master of cruel, subtle insults,

while everyone else saw her as an angel.

In high school, I became invisible, counting down the days until I could escape her,

Years later, I had moved on and started a life far away from her—

until my brother called to tell me he was marrying Nancy.

I was forced to attend their engagement party,

where Nancy hadn’t changed a bit, still throwing barbed comments disguised as compliments.

The next day, I remembered a key detail from high school:

Nancy had a deep fear of butterflies. I saw an opportunity for payback.

I arranged for 200 live butterflies to be delivered to their home, timed perfectly to arrive after the wedding.

I made sure Nancy would open the box indoors,

and even paid for the delivery to be filmed,

The butterflies swarmed when she opened the box,

and Nancy lost control, screaming and crying in terror.

My brother was furious, but I reminded him of all the years

I’d suffered at Nancy’s hands.

I even threatened to release the video,

knowing it would cause her embarrassment.

That was the last I ever heard from Nancy,

and I finally felt at peace.
