Sahar Tabar: The Truth Behind Iran’s Viral Instagram Star

Sahar Tabar, whose real name is Fatemeh Khishvand,

is an Iranian social media influencer who became famous for her unusual and heavily stylized photos on Instagram.

With dramatic makeup and digital edits,

she gained millions of followers and was nicknamed the

“Zombie Angelina Jolie.”

In 2019, Sahar was arrested in Iran after her online activity drew the attention of authorities.

Reports later stated that she was sentenced to ten years in prison

, although she was released after serving around 14 months.

After her release,

Sahar explained that her viral look was not the result of dozens of surgeries, as many claimed,

but rather a mix of makeup,

photo editing, and a few small cosmetic procedures.

She described her work as a form of artistic self-expression meant to entertain her audience.
