The Story:

I awoke at 3 a.m. to obtain water. My son’s voice came from his room, asking,

“Mom, can you turn off the light?”

Without thinking, I turned it off.

As I returned to bed, I noticed my son was on a camping trip. I rushed into his room and froze—it was empty.

I was certain I heard his voice, or at least someone speaking in a tired tone.
