These classic German potato pancakes are a delicious and comforting treat.

They’re crispy on the outside and tender on the inside,

perfect for breakfast, lunch, or a savory snack

Ingredients:

Ingredient Quantity
Gold Potatoes, Shredded 6
Large Eggs 2
Flour 2 Tbsp
Pepper ¼ tsp
Salt ½ tsp
Onion, Finely Chopped ½ cup
Baking Powder ¼ tsp
Vegetable Oil, for Frying ¼ cup (or as needed)

Instructions:

Combine ingredients:

In a large bowl, combine the shredded potatoes,

eggs, flour, pepper, salt, finely chopped onion, and baking powder.

Mix thoroughly:

Knead the mixture well with your hands until all ingredients are completely combined.

Heat the oil:

Heat the vegetable oil in a skillet over medium-high heat on the stovetop.

Form pancakes:

Add the potato mixture to the heated oil in small ¼ cup portions, forming pancake shapes.

Cook until golden:

Cook the potato pancakes for a few minutes on each side, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Drain: Place the cooked potato pancakes on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.

Serve: Serve the German potato pancakes hot.

They can be enjoyed plain or with toppings like applesauce or sour cream.
