Kitchen and bath towels live very different lives, and that’s what matters. Kitchen towels might touch clean dishes and dry hands, but they can also mop up spills, food splatters, and cooking oil. Bath towels mostly deal with clean skin, water, and normal body oils. When both types are only lightly used and share similar care labels, washing them together on a suitable warm or hot cycle, with enough space in the drum, is usually perfectly fine.

The line is crossed when kitchen towels handle raw meat, poultry, seafood, or become visibly greasy. Those belong in their own load, ideally pretreated and washed on a more intensive cycle, so bacteria and oils don’t spread to everything else. Whatever you wash together, never overload the machine and always dry towels completely. In the end, a little attention to how each towel was used is all it takes to keep the routine simple—and your laundry genuinely clean.
