NYC Helicopter Crash Kills Six, Including Siemens Executive and Family
A helicopter crash in New York’s Hudson River on Thursday claimed six lives
, including Siemens executive Agustin Escobar, his wife, and their three children, ages 4, 5, and 11.
The family, visiting from Spain,
had just arrived in NYC
. The New York Helicopters tour took off from Lower Manhattan
at 3 p.m. and crashed 15 minutes later near Pier 40.
Witnesses saw the chopper spiral out of control,
with parts detaching mid-air.
Rescuers pulled all six victims from the water. Four died at the scene;
two later in hospitals.
The pilot had reported low fuel, according to the company’s owner, Michael Roth.
The cause remains under investigation.
Photos of the family before takeoff showed them smiling and,
wearing life vests.
They’ve since been removed from the tour company’s site.
President Trump offered condolences, and officials continue to investigate.
