I came home with snacks I liked and invited friends over.

Everyone loved the food, especially my stepmom.

She complimented the flavors and even asked for the recipes.

“These are the same kinds of snacks I bought before — just homemade and presented differently.

It’s not about the label, it’s about balance and respect.” My stepmom froze, clearly realizing how harsh she had been.

From that moment on, things shifted. She didn’t apologize directly,

but she began listening to my opinions and stopped criticizing my food choices in front of others.

It wasn’t a perfect relationship overnight,
