Michael marked Isabella and Sophia’s October 28 birthday with childhood memories, recent pictures and a heartfelt message: “So proud to be your dad.” For Isabella, the celebration followed an extraordinary ordeal. Diagnosed with medulloblastoma at 18, she underwent emergency brain surgery in October 2023, just before turning 19. More operations, radiation, chemotherapy and rehabilitation followed. She had to regain her ability to walk, while her family supported her through the pain and uncertainty of treatment.
After completing chemotherapy in June 2024, Isabella waited for answers; the following month, she announced that her scans were clear. She returned to USC that August and began rebuilding her college life. As her hair grew back, she also reconsidered what defined her confidence, emphasizing kindness over appearance. Closer to her father and grateful for her family, Isabella has embraced a simple resolve: speak up for herself, take opportunities and refuse to live in fear.
