When my daughter Jane walked down the aisle,
it wasn’t in the ivory gown we’d spent months perfecting — it was jet black.
And the shock wasn’t the color,
but the reason.
My heart pounded,
knowing something monumental was about to happen.
The day before,
I’d noticed her fiancé Jack acting strangely.
On the wedding morning, my friend Helen,
who made the dress, arrived with a large box.
