Stone-faced Karmelo Anthony hit with brutal question after being freed from jail

Karmelo Anthony, 17, was released from jail Monday after a judge reduced his bond from $1 million to $250,000.

He faces a murder charge in the fatal stabbing of fellow student Austin Metcalf during a high school track meet in Frisco, Texas.

The courtroom was filled with emotion—Austin’s mother wept,

while Karmelo’s supporters sat quietly.

Judge Angela Tucker allowed Anthony’s release under strict conditions:

house arrest, ankle monitor, constant adult supervision,

and no contact with the victim’s family.

Anthony’s attorney argued the bond reduction was fair,

citing the teen’s clean record and community ties.

His father testified that the family had moved to Texas for a better life,

and is financially overwhelmed. The stabbing occurred on April 2 during a weather delay.

An argument broke out, and witnesses say Karmelo warned Austin before allegedly being grabbed.

He then stabbed Austin once in the chest, later telling police it was self-defense.

Austin died in his twin brother’s arms. His family described him as a bright,

driven student with dreams of college football. A GoFundMe in his honor has raised over $300,000

.The case has sparked national debate, with some supporting

Karmelo’s right to due process, and others questioning why he was armed.

A grand jury will decide whether to indict him.

Both families have called for prayers as the legal process continues.
