Catherine announced her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, completed chemotherapy that September and shared that she was in remission in January 2025. Throughout that period, the couple balanced treatment, parenting and public responsibilities.

The evening also reportedly included a conversation with Sebastien Bowen, whose late wife, cancer campaigner Dame Deborah James, received her damehood during a personal visit from William in 2022.
